Driving Directions

Portland Sailing Center is located on the Columbia River near Portland Airport. We are part of Ryan's Marina at 3335 NE Marine Drive: easy to get to but hard to find your first time.

Driving from Interstate 5

When arriving from Interstate 5, either northbound or southbound, take Exit 307, Marine Drive, and access Marine Drive eastbound and continue several miles until the river is on your left. Follow instructions for Final approach from the west, below.

Driving from Northeast Portland (three approaches)

1. Take 33rd Ave. north from I-84 all the way to Marine Dr. There is a confusing bridge along the way as 33rd leaves the residential area and crosses Lombard and Columbia Blvd. Proceed over the bridge. At midspan move to the right lane. This will carry you via a single lane ramp up to the right and then down, now facing west. At the bottom of this ramp take the right fork. This is 33rd Drive which will carry you the remaining mile or so to the stop sign at Marine Drive. Turn right, follow instructions for Final approach from the west, below.

2. Via Columbia Blvd. from the east, driving westbound. Immediately past Broadmoor golf course clubhouse take the gentle right turn, an exit ramp, really, rather than going under the looming overpass. This ramp is not well signed. It will lead you to 33rd Drive. Proceed north to the stop sign at Marine Dr. Turn right and check the instructions below for Final approach from the west.

3. Via Columbia Blvd. from the west, driving eastbound. As 33rd Ave. approaches well ahead you will see a concrete overpass. Well before this you must turn right. This poorly signed right turn happens immediately past the "Tarr" sign. Once turned right you will immediately swing around and under Columbia Blvd. Now you are on 33rd Drive. Proceed north a mile or so to the stop sign at Marine Dr. Turn right and check the instructions below for Final approach from the west.

Final approach from the west

Ryan's Marina is just 1000 feet east of 33rd Drive. The entrance driveway is easy to miss! Approaching from the west (eastbound on Marine Drive, river on your left), east of 33rd Drive, count the fire hydrants, one, two. Slow down! Just passed the second hydrant (2/10 mile east of 33rd Drive) turn left! Park wherever you can. Walk through the gate, down the ramp to the PSC office.

Driving from Interstate 205 (approaching from the east)

Marine Drive cannot be accessed directly from Interstate 205. Take the eastbound Airport Way exit and proceed to 122nd Ave. Turn left (north) to Marine Drive, and turn left again. You are headed west, now. In about four miles Salty's restaurant is obvious: you're getting warm. Next landmark is Rodger's Marine Electronics, begin slowing down. Now look for the Ryan's Marina sign topped with the bold numbers "3335." Immediately past the sign is the entrance. Park wherever you can, leave no valuables in your car. Walk through the gate, down the ramp to the PSC office.

Directions to Cascade Locks dock:

I-84 east to exit 44. Exit and proceed straight through town until you see Cascade Locks Marine Park, well signed, on your left. Enter and proceed under the railroad tracks and turn right. Proceed to the boat basin at the far end of the drive. Call 503-281-6529 if you get lost.
