Portland Sailing Center

The PSC Fleet

Portland Sailing Center's fleet currently includes boats from 22 feet to 39 feet in length. All are ballasted keelboats which don't tip over as their unballasted cousins often do. So dress for the weather, bring non-marking shoes, and leave your swim wear at home.

Day Sail/Hourly Excursions

Wanna go sailing? Great! How's the weather? All we need is you and a little wind. Give us a call and let's see what we can do.

We offer day sailing in the Columbia River Gorge, one of the world's greatest places for a sailboat, certainly the best in the Northwest. It is beautiful, lightly travelled, and windy. If you have one chance to sail for a few hours, you ought to do so there. Our associate John Schroeder moors his boat China Girl there, and together they are a great bet for a great day. China Girl is licensed and insured just as Messenger is (indeed, John also does Sea Trials and Offshore). Typical outings are three to five hours, and yes, your participation is encouraged (though not required).

Scheduling can be difficult, though. We can schedule the perfect day but winds can disappoint. Call John directly at 503-704-4567 to inquire about the possibilities. Sometimes he can go on short notice. Cost is $60 per hour for one person with a three hour minumum. For additional sailors add $10 per hour. Thus, for two people a three hour sail will set you back $210.

For daysailing in Portland we can sometimes use Messenger, sometimes use the PSC class boats, but sometimes we're too busy with classes for hourly charters. Contact us with your plan, let's see if we can go sailing. A boat in Portland with captain cost $65 to $75 per hour for up to two passengers. For additional passengers add $10 per hour. Two hour minimum.
